Apparent Christianity

Here's what the average Christian man on Plenty of Fish looks like:

- social drinker
- local pub regular
- womanizer
- Sunday morning sleeper
- potty mouth
- looking for casual dates or "friends"
- wine/beer enthusiast

Call me old-fashioned, but this doesn't look like a decent Christian man to me.

True story: I just read in a list of interests "18a cartoons" and "boobs LOL" from a guy claiming to be a Christian. If I was worried about finding a good man before... I think someone just flushed the toilet containing my last hope.

  1. I listed myself as a Christian on my POF profile. I am a Christian, I believe in God and I accept Jesus as the son of God yes. But I don't live an incredibly Christian lifestyle Jordan. I am not a virgin, I support Gay rights, I am pro choice. I don't think it is fair of you to judge some one who says they are Christian vs. their hobbies and interests....

  2. Hello Jordan,

I wonder if the reason you are not meeting the man you are looking for is that you are fishing in the wrong pond? POF as I understand it is becoming more and more a place for a causal hook up.

Have you looked at any of these sites:

Here's what the average Christian man on Plenty of Fish looks like:

    - social drinker - I would consider myself a social drinker - I have never been drunk. All my friends would be willing to verify that. I will have one or maybe two drinks and that is it.

    - local pub regular - pubs are a great place to meet friends - this is vastly different from guys who go to bars.

    - womanizer - This one does not apply to me. lol

    - Sunday morning sleeper - this one is me bang on - however there are plenty of other services one can attend.

    - potty mouth - @#$%! You caught me.

    - looking for casual dates or "friends" - not on POF so I am not looking for anyone.

    - wine/beer enthusiast - I would fall into this category as well. However that does not mean that it is the only way I spend my time...

  3. Thank you casual observer. While I appreciate your comments, I have no intention of updating my view of what a Christian man should be. I'm not judging people who don't fall into my ideals, I'm saying they're not for me. These are standards that I live by and would prefer to spend the rest of my life with someone who shares them.

As for finding someone on Plenty of Fish, I have no expectation that I'm going to find the man of my dreams there. I never expected to and only signed up to see what all the fuss was about. Since I was so amused so quickly, I decided to keep my account active and this blog was born. If nothing else, it gives other people a chance to see what's really out there - not much.

  4. Joda - you should post a comment about your brother-in-law. I believe he lives up to your standard of a Christian male - and didn't get married until he was 27.
